Full sun. Sandy soil with liberal quantity of peat or leaf-mould.
Expert advice
Ixia will welcome a winter mulch of peat, which is gradually removed in spring to accustom the young shoots to sun and air. Water freely during spring, maintain adequate moisture in summer.
