Ranuculus – Plant of of the moment

Ranunculus

Now in store

Great dollops of colour top the upright stems of this fantastic collection of ranunculus from early summer. They come in lots of vibrant shades including red, pink, yellow, orange and white, so add lashings of colour to the bedding scheme. They also look lovely in pots.

Plant the talon-like corms in autumn or spring 8cm deep and a similar distance apart with their ‘fingers’ facing downwards.

Flowers May – June

Plant in a sunny position

When the leaves have died down, decide whether you want to lift the bulbs for storage or leave them where they are. They do want to be fairly dry during summer dormancy, and you might accidentally damage them if you forget where they are, so lifting is probably the safest bet. Cut off the dead leaves and leave them spread out to dry for a couple of days.
